When Will finds the Dutchman, he makes a deal with him to find the key to the chest in exchange for Jack’s compass, but he is duped into joining Jones’ crew in Jack’s place. After escaping the cannibals, Jack and the crew pay a visit to Tia Dalma, a voodoo priestess who reveals Jones’ weakness is his heart, which is locked within the Dead Man’s Chest Jack plans to find it and free himself from Jones’ service. Will rescues Jack and the crew from cannibals on an island. Meanwhile, Beckett promises Elizabeth’s release if Will brings him Jack’s magical compass, which points to whatever the holder desires the most. The Kraken has dragged Jack to Davy Jones’ Locker after he bartered a deal with Jones to raise the Pearl from the depths. Bootstrap is a member of Davy Jones’ crew on the Flying Dutchman. Meanwhile, Will’s father, Bootstrap Bill Turner, pays Jack a visit aboard the Black Pearl.
After losing the Navy’s flagship, HMS Dauntless, in a hurricane while pursuing Jack, Norrington resigned and vanished. When Lord Cutler Beckett, chairman of the East India Trading Company, arrives with arrest warrants for Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, as well as Commodore James Norrington, who allowed Captain Jack Sparrow to escape, the wedding is called off.
